What is Nickel?

Nickel is a hard, silvery-white transition metal valued for its corrosion resistance and high-temperature performance. About two-thirds of mined nickel goes into stainless steel, with the fastest-growing segment being lithium-ion battery cathodes for electric vehicles. Indonesia and the Philippines lead global supply. Spot nickel is quoted on the London Metal Exchange in US dollars per metric ton.
