What is Platinum?
Platinum is a dense, ductile, and highly unreactive precious metal. About 70% of mined supply originates in South Africa, with Russia and Zimbabwe accounting for most of the rest. Industrial demand — particularly autocatalysts that scrub diesel emissions — drives the bulk of consumption. The price is fixed twice daily by the London Platinum and Palladium Market.
