What is Palladium?

Palladium is a lustrous, silvery-white precious metal in the platinum group. Roughly 80% of demand comes from gasoline autocatalysts, where it converts harmful exhaust gases into less-toxic emissions. Russia and South Africa dominate mine supply, making the price unusually sensitive to geopolitics. Spot palladium is fixed twice daily by the London Platinum and Palladium Market.
